korvalehden
Korvalehden is a rare mineral resource described in the fictional world of Eldara. It occurs in hydrothermal veins within the Korval Range and is notable for its combination of metallic luster, hardness, and electronic properties. The mineral is defined chemically as a nano-crystalline complex of sulfide and silicate phases, with a typical density of 6.0–6.5 g/cm3 and a refractive index of about 2.1. At cryogenic temperatures it displays a degree of superconductivity, making it attractive for high-performance conductors and specialty optics. Its occurrence is restricted to high-grade metamorphic terrains, often with magnetite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite.
Discovery and naming: Korvalehden was first described in field reports from 1978 by geologist Aira Vork during
Occurrences: principally in select districts of the Korval Range; irregular veins; small but consistent ore bodies;
Extraction and processing: mined via underground methods; ore concentrated by flotation; refined through smelting and electrorefining;
Uses: primary uses include superconducting cables for cryogenic applications, high-precision optics, and catalytic materials for chemical
Economy and regulation: production limited by geology and extraction costs; a handful of mining firms control
Environmental and safety: mining requires dust control, water treatment, and tailings management; occupational health measures are
