Korporaatiotutkimus, or studies of corporatism, is an interdisciplinary field within political science and sociology that analyzes how organized interests and authorities participate in policy-making. The central focus is the relationships between the state, labor unions, and employer associations, and how these actors form formal or informal channels for negotiation and policy implementation. Corporatist arrangements are characterized by tripartite or multi-actor structures that coordinate economic and social policy through negotiated agreements, rather than relying solely on electoral or market competition.

Research questions address how corporatist arrangements emerge, persist, or decline; the distribution of power among actors; and the effects on welfare, efficiency, and democratic representation. Methodologically, korporaatiotutkimus uses comparative case studies, historical analysis, interviews, and content analysis of policy documents, as well as social network analysis to map influence and coalitions.

Scope includes welfare state regimes, labor relations, industrial policy, and regulation, as well as the interaction of corporations with civil society and the state. Critics argue that corporatist systems can marginalize non-organized groups and curb pluralism, while supporters claim they enable coordination and stable policymaking in complex economies.
