Koaksiaalkaablivõrk is an Estonian term referring to a coaxial cable network. These networks utilize coaxial cables, which consist of an inner conductor surrounded by an insulating layer, a braided metal shield, and an outer insulating jacket. This construction provides excellent shielding against electromagnetic interference, making coaxial cables suitable for transmitting signals over moderate distances.

Coaxial cable networks have been widely employed for various applications, most notably for delivering cable television (CATV) and broadband internet services. In the context of CATV, a central headend distributes television signals to subscribers through a network of coaxial cables. Similarly, internet service providers often use coaxial cable infrastructure, particularly in hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) architectures, where fiber optic cables connect the main network to local nodes, and coaxial cables then extend to individual homes and businesses.

The widespread adoption of coaxial cable technology was driven by its ability to carry a significant amount of data and its relatively lower cost of installation compared to some other cabling solutions. However, the performance of coaxial cable networks is subject to signal degradation over distance, and they typically offer lower bandwidth compared to modern fiber optic networks.
