Kniplengte is a Dutch term that literally translates as “cut length” and is used to describe the dimension of a segment created when material—such as paper, fabric, metal or wood—is divided from a larger piece. The term is most commonly applied in the textile industry, where a kniplengte refers to the measured length of a heel‑cut or a fabric strip removed from a larger roll during cutting and sub‑dicing. Kniplengtes are carefully recorded because they influence the overall dimensions of a garment, the amount of fabric required, and the waste generated.
