Klímatizálás, often referred to as air conditioning, is the process of altering the properties of air to more comfortably or suitably control its temperature and humidity. This is typically achieved through mechanical systems that cool and dehumidify the air. The primary goal of klímatizálás is to provide thermal comfort for occupants in buildings and vehicles, and to maintain suitable conditions for sensitive equipment or materials.

The most common type of klímatizálás system uses a refrigeration cycle. This cycle involves a refrigerant that circulates through a closed loop, absorbing heat from the indoor air and releasing it outdoors. Key components include an evaporator (where heat is absorbed), a compressor (which increases the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant), a condenser (where heat is released), and an expansion valve (which reduces the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant).

Heating is often achieved by reversing the refrigeration cycle or by using separate heating elements. Ventilation involves exchanging stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air to improve air quality and remove pollutants. Air purification can be enhanced through filters that remove dust, pollen, and other airborne particles.
