Description: Individual kelpgreen plants have a robust holdfast anchoring to rocky substrates, a flexible stipe, and flattened blades that can reach up to one to two meters in length. The color ranges from emerald to lime green and can shift with light exposure and seasonal nutrient availability. Gas bladders may be present in some forms, aiding buoyancy.

Distribution and habitat: Kelpgreen is reported in subtidal, shallow zones of temperate regions, typically on rocky reefs and alongside other kelp species. Observations have occurred in parts of the North Pacific and North Atlantic, often in nutrient-rich currents where growth is rapid.
