A keepcase is a type of plastic case used for storing optical media such as CDs and DVDs. It is characterized by its clear or translucent plastic shell and a hinged inner tray that holds the disc. The case typically features a slot on the front cover to hold an insert or artwork, providing information about the disc's content.

The design of the keepcase was developed by the KAO Corporation in the 1980s as an alternative to paper sleeves and cardboard digipaks. Its primary advantage was its durability and protective qualities, safeguarding the disc from scratches and damage. The transparent nature of the case also allowed for visual identification of the disc without needing to open it.

Keepcases are commonly used for commercial releases of music albums, movie DVDs, and software. They are also employed for distributing data on optical media. The standard jewel case, a smaller version of the keepcase, is often used for audio CDs. The larger DVD-style keepcase is used for both DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The manufacturing process involves injection molding of polystyrene plastic. While widely adopted, keepcases have faced competition from newer storage formats and digital distribution methods.
