kalsiittisementti
Kalsiittisementti, or calcium silicate cement, is a cementitious material based on calcium silicate compounds. It is used in construction for fire resistance, insulation, and as a binder in boards, plaster, and repair mortars. The material is typically produced by combining lime- or calcium-containing materials with silica and water, forming calcium silicate hydrates through hydration or related curing processes. Some commercial products are autoclaved calcium silicate boards that gain strength through high-temperature steam curing.
In practice, calcium silicate cement boards are non-combustible and offer good thermal insulation and dimensional stability.
Common applications include fireproofing coatings and boards in walls and ceilings, thermal insulation panels, interior plaster
Historically developed in the 20th century as an alternative or complement to traditional cementitious binders, kalsiittisementti
