When water evaporates, these minerals are left behind, gradually building up over time.

The formation of kalkavsättningar is a natural chemical process. In hard water, calcium and magnesium ions are present. When water is heated, the solubility of these minerals decreases, leading them to precipitate out of solution and attach to surfaces.
