A juottoliitin, often referred to as a soldering iron in English, is a tool used to join metal parts by melting solder. The solder, typically a metal alloy, is heated until it melts, and then flows into the gap between the parts to be joined. This molten solder then cools and solidifies, creating a strong electrical and mechanical connection.

Soldering irons consist of a heated tip, which is usually made of copper, and a handle. The tip is heated by an internal heating element, which can be a resistive wire or a ceramic heater.
