Jeep is an American automobile marque known for its sport-utility vehicles and off-road capability. A brand of Stellantis, it has its roots in World War II and the development of the military Willys MB and Ford GP, commonly referred to as “jeep.” The postwar civilian version evolved into the Civilian Jeep (CJ) models, establishing the name and basic design language.

In the following decades, Jeep became associated with rugged 4x4 performance and distinctive styling, including the seven-slot grille that has become a trademark. The brand passed through ownership changes, notably being acquired by Chrysler in 1987, then becoming part of DaimlerChrysler, and later Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). In 2021, Stellantis formed, bringing Jeep under its umbrella with the rest of FCA brands.

The current Jeep lineup includes the Wrangler, a two- or four-door SUV derived from the wartime jeep; the Gladiator, a pickup wagon based on the Wrangler platform; the Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L, mid- to full-size SUVs with three-row seating; and the Cherokee, Compass, and Renegade as smaller to compact models. Jeep is recognized for trail-rated capability, rugged design, removable tops or doors on some models, and strong emphasis on outdoor and adventure branding.

Manufacturing and distribution span North America, Europe, and other regions, with a focus on both traditional internal-combustion models and electrified variants. In the 2020s, Jeep expanded into electrification with plug-in hybrid 4xe versions of several models, signaling an ongoing evolution toward sustainable off-road mobility while preserving its iconic off-road heritage.
