Chrysler

Chrysler is an American automobile brand and a former manufacturer that is part of Stellantis. The brand originated with the Chrysler Corporation, founded in 1925 by Walter P. Chrysler. Its development paralleled the rise of mass‑market car production in the United States, and it has been associated with major innovations in passenger automotive design.

Chrysler was formed when Walter P. Chrysler reorganized the Maxwell Motor Company and created the Chrysler Corporation. He introduced the DeSoto and later the Plymouth brand to cover different market segments, and he acquired the Dodge Brothers Company in 1928, expanding the group’s lineup.

Chrysler played a significant role in the development of family transportation with the minivan, introduced in the 1980s as the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan; the Pacifica, introduced later, continued the minivan line.

From 1998 to 2007, Chrysler was part of DaimlerChrysler. The group faced bankruptcy during the late 2000s and was restructured with government support in 2009. In 2014, Fiat S.p.A. acquired a controlling stake in Chrysler, and in 2021 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles merged with PSA Group to form Stellantis, the current parent company.

As of the 2020s, the Chrysler brand focuses on family-oriented vehicles, notably the Pacifica minivan and its hybrid variant, with production centered in North America.
