Játékfejlesztés refers to the process of creating video games. It encompasses all stages from initial concept and design to programming, art creation, sound design, testing, and eventual release. This multidisciplinary field requires collaboration among various professionals, including game designers who conceptualize gameplay mechanics and overall game structure, programmers who write the code that brings the game to life, artists who create the visual assets like characters and environments, and sound engineers who develop the audio experience.

The development process often begins with a game design document (GDD), which outlines the game's core features, story, target audience, and technical requirements. Following this, the pre-production phase involves prototyping and refining the core gameplay loops. Production is the longest phase, where the bulk of the game's content and features are built. This is followed by quality assurance (QA), where the game is thoroughly tested to identify and fix bugs. Finally, the game is released to the public, often followed by post-launch support, including patches and downloadable content (DLC).
