Itäuskontojen, also known as Eastern religions, refer to a diverse group of spiritual and philosophical traditions originating primarily in Asia. These religions often emphasize harmony with nature, spiritual development, and the pursuit of enlightenment or liberation. Many of these traditions have influenced cultures and societies across Asia and, increasingly, around the world.

Major Eastern religions include Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. Hinduism, originating in India, is one of the oldest religions, featuring a variety of gods, rituals, and philosophies centered around concepts like dharma (duty) and karma (action and its consequences). Buddhism, founded by Siddhartha Gautama in the 5th to 6th century BCE in India, focuses on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path as means to attain enlightenment and end suffering.

Taoism, rooted in Chinese traditions, emphasizes harmony with the Tao ("the Way") and practices such as meditation and naturalness. Confucianism, also Chinese, centers on social ethics, moral virtues, and proper conduct within society. Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan, venerates kami (spirits or deities) and emphasizes rituals of purification and reverence for nature.

These religions often share overlapping values, such as respect for nature, the importance of ethical conduct, and spiritual introspection. Eastern religions have contributed significantly to global spiritual thought, philosophy, arts, and cultural practices. Despite differences, they collectively represent a diverse and rich array of beliefs and practices that continue to influence millions worldwide.
