Interecept is not an established term in English and is most commonly a misspelling of "intercept." The correct word "intercept" has several related meanings across disciplines, generally involving taking, stopping, or receiving something en route.

In mathematics, an intercept is a point where a graph crosses an axis; common examples are the x-intercept and y-intercept. In analytic geometry and algebra, the slope–intercept form of a line (y = mx + b) identifies b as the y-intercept.

In communications and security, interception refers to capturing transmitted information, as in wiretapping, packet capture, or lawful interception conducted by authorities under legal authorization. In computing, interception can describe techniques such as middleware, hooks, or man-in-the-middle attacks that observe or modify data flows.

In sports, an interception is the defensive act of catching or otherwise gaining possession of an opponent's pass, notably in American football. More generally, the term can apply to any act of seizing or interrupting an intended transfer.

Etymologically, "intercept" derives from Latin intercipere, from inter- meaning "between" and capere meaning "to take." Because "interecept" appears in informal writing as a typographical or phonetic error, writers and editors typically correct it to "intercept" to align with standard usage.
