Insensibil is an adjective used in several languages, most notably Romanian, derived from Latin insensibilis, meaning not able to feel. In medical contexts, insensibil describes a state of diminished or absent sensation in a part of the body, or, less commonly, in the whole body. The term is closely related to anesthesia and hypoesthesia, which denote complete and partial loss of sensation, respectively. The word can also be used in a broader, figurative sense to describe a person who lacks empathy or sensitivity.

In medical usage, insensibil can arise from a variety of causes that affect the nervous system. These include nerve damage from trauma, neuropathies such as diabetic neuropathy, spinal cord injury, stroke, infections affecting nerves, frostbite, chronic alcohol use, and exposure to certain medications or toxins, including local anesthetics or neurotoxic agents.
