hyracodonts
Hyracodonts were an extinct family of rhinoceros-like mammals that lived from the Eocene to the Miocene epochs. They are distinguished by their relatively small size compared to later rhinoceroses and their long, slender limbs, which suggest they were agile runners. Unlike many modern rhinoceroses, hyracodonts lacked horns. Their teeth were adapted for grinding tough vegetation, indicating they were herbivores.
The group is thought to have originated in Asia and subsequently spread to North America and Europe.
Fossil evidence shows that hyracodonts inhabited a range of environments, from forests to grasslands. Their extinction
