Bayesian optimization uses a probabilistic model to predict the performance of hyperparameter combinations and intelligently chooses the next set to evaluate, aiming to converge on the optimal settings faster. More advanced methods like evolutionary algorithms and gradient-based optimization are also employed. The chosen method depends on factors such as the complexity of the model, the dimensionality of the hyperparameter space, and computational resources available.
