Hypergonadism refers to a condition characterized by the overproduction of sex hormones, namely testosterone in males and estrogen in females, by the gonads (testes and ovaries). In males, hypergonadism, often associated with excessive testosterone production, can manifest as precocious puberty, where sexual development occurs at an unusually early age.
