hovedkraftnett
Hovedkraftnett refers to the high-voltage transmission system that carries electricity over long distances in Norway. It is the backbone of the national power grid, responsible for transporting electricity from power generation facilities, primarily hydroelectric power plants in the north and west, to major consumption centers and substations across the country. The network consists of overhead lines and underground cables operating at very high voltages, typically 300 kV and 420 kV, which minimize energy loss during transmission.
The operation and maintenance of the hovedkraftnett are the responsibility of Statnett SF, a state-owned company.
