This large, predatory fish belongs to the family Scombridae and is commonly referred to as the king mackerel or Atlantic kingfish. King mackerel inhabit warm coastal waters, typically ranging from the Gulf of Mexico to the southern United States, including Florida, and as far north as New Jersey during warmer months.
