Horspalamosiller

Horspalamosiller, also known as *Scomberomorus regalis*, is a species of mackerel found primarily in the western Atlantic Ocean. This large, predatory fish belongs to the family Scombridae and is commonly referred to as the king mackerel or Atlantic kingfish. It is highly valued in commercial and recreational fisheries due to its robust flavor and firm texture.

King mackerel inhabit warm coastal waters, typically ranging from the Gulf of Mexico to the southern United States, including Florida, and as far north as New Jersey during warmer months. They prefer shallow waters near reefs, drop-offs, and estuaries, where they feed on smaller fish, squid, and crustaceans. Their diet contributes to their rapid growth, with mature individuals often reaching lengths of 3 to 4 feet (0.9 to 1.2 meters) and weighing up to 30 pounds (14 kilograms).

The species plays an important ecological role as both predator and prey, supporting marine food webs. Historically, king mackerel were abundant, but overfishing and environmental changes have led to population declines in some regions. As a result, regulatory measures, including size and bag limits, have been implemented to sustain sustainable fisheries.
