Gruppy refers to a small, vibrantly colored freshwater fish belonging to the family Poeciliidae. Native to tropical South America, these fish are widely popular in the aquarium hobby due to their hardy nature and ease of breeding. Males are typically smaller and more brightly colored than females, often displaying extended fins and elaborate patterns. Females are generally larger and more subdued in appearance, possessing a gravid spot near their anal fin when pregnant.

These livebearers reproduce frequently, with females giving birth to live fry rather than laying eggs. The gestation period lasts around four weeks, and a single birth can yield dozens of offspring. Gruppy are omnivorous and will readily consume a varied diet of flakes, pellets, and small live foods. They are peaceful and social fish, best kept in groups with other non-aggressive tank mates. Their adaptability to various water conditions makes them an excellent choice for beginner aquarists.
