Grovles are a fictional species native to the planet Xylos in the Andromeda galaxy. They are a quadrupedal creature, roughly the size of a terrestrial badger, with a thick, leathery hide that ranges in color from deep purple to mottled brown. Their most distinguishing feature is a bioluminescent crest atop their heads, which pulses with a soft, green light, believed to be used for communication within their social groups and potentially for attracting mates.

The grovles are primarily herbivorous, subsisting on the tough, fibrous Xylosian flora. They possess powerful jaws and specialized digestive systems to process these plants. Despite their relatively small size, they are known for their surprising agility and their ability to burrow rapidly into the sandy soil of Xylos, a behavior that serves as a primary defense mechanism against predators.

Socially, grovles live in small, tightly-knit family units called "clusters." These clusters typically consist of a dominant breeding pair and their offspring.
