gipsbasert

Gipsbasert describes materials or products in which gypsum, chemically calcium sulfate dihydrate (CaSO4·2H2O), is the main binder or constituent. Gypsum can occur in natural form or be produced by calcining gypsum to form plasters such as calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CaSO4·0.5H2O), which then rehydrates and hardens in use. Gypsum is commonly processed into boards, plasters and leveling compounds for construction and interior finishing.

Common forms include gipsbaserte plater (gypsum boards or drywall) with paper or fiberglass facings, gipsbaserte puss

Key properties include non-combustibility and the ability to improve fire resistance because the water of crystallization
