Gagneons are a term used in speculative biology and fantasy literature to describe a small, arboreal mammal-like creature. The name appears in multiple fictional worlds and is not recognized as a formal taxon in real biology. Etymology is varied, with some authors linking it to the French verb gagner, meaning to win, while others coin a fictional origin.

In fictional accounts, gagneons are about 12–22 cm long, with a prehensile tail, soft fur that can shift color, and large eyes suited to nocturnal life. They are described as omnivores and highly adaptable climbers. Taxonomic placement is inconsistent across works; some place them in a separate order Gagneonata, others in a family Gagneonidae within a broader mammal clade.

Ecology and behavior describe them as forest dwellers that forage at night and build leaf nests. They are often depicted as social, forming small family groups with cooperative care of young. Communication includes vocal calls and scent marking.

Across fiction and games, gagneons are sometimes used to illustrate forest ecosystems or as symbols of cunning. There is no evidence of their existence in the real world.
