Fotokonduktorilevy, also known as photoresistive or light-dependent resistor (LDR) substrates, are specialized electronic components used in optical and electronic applications to detect and measure light intensity. These thin, lightweight layers are typically composed of semiconductor materials such as cadmium sulfide (CdS) or cadmium selenide (CdSe), which exhibit a change in electrical resistance when exposed to varying levels of illumination.

The primary function of fotokonduktorilevy is to convert light signals into electrical signals. When light photons strike the surface of the photoresistive material, they excite electrons, reducing the material’s electrical resistance. This change in resistance can then be measured as an electrical signal proportional to the intensity of incident light. Such properties make fotokonduktorilevy suitable for use in light sensing, automatic lighting controls, and brightness measurement devices.

Manufacturing of fotokonduktorilevy involves depositing a thin film of the semiconductor material onto a substrate, usually glass or plastic, through processes such as chemical bath deposition or vapor deposition. The resulting layer is then integrated into electronic circuits with electrodes ensuring proper electrical contact.

These components are favored for their simplicity, low cost, and broad spectral response, particularly in the visible range. However, they are generally not as precise or fast as photodiodes or other photodetectors. They also find applications in educational projects and prototype development due to their ease of use.
