Florozis is a term used in plant science to describe a proposed community-level shift in flowering dynamics, where signals associated with flowering in some individuals are hypothesized to impact neighboring plants, creating synchronization or bursts of flowering across a population. The word derives from flor- meaning flower, and -osis indicating a process.

Mechanisms proposed for florozis are speculative and may involve mobile florigen-like signals (such as FT-like proteins), phytohormones, or volatile organic compounds released by flowering individuals. These signals could propagate through plant signaling networks and microbial associations, thereby adjusting shoot apical meristem competence in neighboring plants. Environmental cues such as photoperiod, temperature, and resource availability remain important, but florozis posits an additional layer of interplant communication that integrates a population-level response.

Status and reception in the literature are mixed. Florozis is not a formal taxonomic category or widely accepted concept; it appears mainly in theoretical discussions and in some field observations of synchronized flowering in dense stands. Its evidence base is limited and often confounded by local microclimate effects, resource competition, and pollinator dynamics.
