Finansmarkedsregler are the laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern financial markets in Norway and, through the EEA framework, many cross-border activities. The regulatory framework is primarily implemented and supervised by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Finanstilsynet), in cooperation with other authorities such as Norges Bank for payment and stability issues. The Norwegian authorities regulate licensing, conduct of business, prudential requirements, disclosure, and corporate governance. Central market infrastructure, including the central securities depository Verdipapirsentralen (VPS) and trading venues like Oslo Børs, operate under these rules and related oversight. National legislation is complemented by EU-derived regulations adopted through the EØS agreement, including MiFID II, MAR (Market Abuse Regulation), EMIR, UCITS, and AIFMD, which shape trading, market conduct, investor protection, and post-trade processes.

Enforcement powers, sanctions, and supervisory cooperation with European authorities support compliance and promote orderly, transparent markets.
