Fimbrinplastin is a proposed cytoskeletal protein that is considered part of the fimbrin/plastin family of actin-binding proteins. It is named for its suggested relationship to fimbrin/plastins, a group known for organizing actin filaments into bundled networks. Based on sequence analyses, fimbrinplastin is predicted to contain an actin-binding region near the N terminus that resembles calponin-homology domain pairs, with a C-terminal regulatory region that may harbor phosphorylation sites and calcium-binding motifs. The precise domain architecture has not been definitively established in experimental studies.

Functionally, fimbrinplastin is thought to participate in remodeling and stabilizing actin filament networks by crosslinking filaments to form bundles. This activity would support the mechanical properties of the cortical cytoskeleton and contribute to the formation of actin-rich structures in various cell types. The protein is hypothesized to interact with other actin-binding proteins and to be subject to regulation by signaling pathways, including calcium signaling and phosphorylation, though specific regulatory mechanisms remain to be clarified.

Localization and expression data for fimbrinplastin come from a limited set of studies.
