Filtpaddor are small protective discs made of felt that are placed under furniture legs to protect floors and reduce noise during movement. They are commonly used under chairs, tables, sofas, and cabinets to prevent scratches on hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl surfaces and to dampen the sound of movement.

Most filtpaddor are made from wool or synthetic felt, sometimes with a backing of rubber, cork, or polyurethane to improve grip and weight distribution. There are two main varieties: self-adhesive felt pads with an adhesive layer, and nonadhesive pads that rely on tape or screws for attachment. Some designs include a rubber or silicone bottom to enhance non-slip properties on smooth floors.

Shapes and sizes vary, including round, square, and oval forms. Diameters range from a few millimeters for small furniture feet to several centimeters for larger pieces. Thicker pads can compensate for uneven legs, while thinner ones minimize height changes that could affect stability.

Application generally involves cleaning the underside of the furniture leg, selecting an appropriate pad, and applying it firmly. Self-adhesive pads are pressed into place, while nonadhesive variants may be secured with tape or screws. Regular inspection is advised; replace worn or damaged pads to maintain protection. For carpets, choose pads with non-slip bottoms or use glides designed for carpeted floors.

Limitations include possible adhesive residue, wear on rough surfaces, and reduced effectiveness under heavy loads. Filtpaddor offer a simple, economical option for floor protection and can be used as part of broader floor-care practices.
