Filterkammaren, or filter chamber in English, is a compartment within filtration equipment where a filter medium is positioned and the separation of solids from liquids takes place. The chamber is typically part of a larger vessel or housing and includes inlets and outlets for feed, filtrate, and often a backwash or cleaning connection.

In operation, the liquid containing suspended solids enters the chamber and passes through the filter medium, becoming clarified as it exits through a separate outlet. The retained solids accumulate as a layer or sludge on or within the medium and are periodically removed or flushed out. The design of a filterkammaren supports different filtration modes, such as depth filtration with granular media or surface filtration using membranes or cartridges.

Common filter media found in filterkammaren include sand or other granular media, activated carbon, membranes, or cartridge/bag filters.
