The Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), known as the World Canine Organization, is the largest international federation of national kennel clubs. It coordinates canine breed standards, oversees international pedigrees, and sanctions international shows and events.

Founded in 1911 by a coalition of European kennel clubs, the FCI's remit includes promoting purebred dogs, responsible breeding practices, welfare, and the exchange of information on canine health and genetics. It operates through member organizations that retain national responsibilities while adhering to FCI standards.

The FCI maintains official breed standards for hundreds of dog breeds and groups them into ten categories for competition and recognition. Its standards describe ideal physical and behavioral traits and serve as the basis for judging at shows and for breeding guidelines. The federation also administers international registrations via member clubs and publishes educational materials and health-related guidelines.

In addition to standards and registrations, the FCI coordinates events such as the World Dog Show and supports judge education, breed clubs, and veterinary collaborations to address canine health issues. The organization works with related bodies on policy, animal welfare, and genetic diversity in purebred dogs.
