Fagdisipliner is a Norwegian term for academic disciplines or subject areas within research and higher education. A fagdisiplin represents a coherent domain of knowledge characterized by its own theories, concepts, methods, and professional practices. It forms the basis for how knowledge is organized, taught, and evaluated within universities and colleges.

Each fagdisiplin has a historical development, central questions, and established methodologies. Examples include natural sciences such as physics and chemistry; social sciences such as sociology and psychology; humanities such as philosophy and literature; and professional disciplines such as law, medicine, nursing, and teacher education.
