Färgrepresentationer, or color representations, refer to the various methods used to digitally describe and store color information. These systems allow computers and other devices to interpret and display colors accurately.

One of the most common representations is the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) model. In RGB, colors are created by combining different intensities of red, green, and blue light. Each color channel is typically represented by a value ranging from 0 to 255, where 0 indicates no intensity and 255 indicates full intensity. For example, pure red is (255, 0, 0), black is (0, 0, 0), and white is (255, 255, 255). RGB is widely used in displays like monitors and televisions.

Another important representation is CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black). This model is subtractive, meaning it works by absorbing light. It is primarily used in printing, where inks of these colors are combined to create a wider spectrum. In CMYK, colors are represented by percentages, with 0% indicating no ink and 100% indicating full ink coverage.

HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) and HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) are color models that represent color in a way that is more intuitive to humans. Hue refers to the pure color (e.g., red, blue, green), saturation refers to the intensity or purity of the color, and lightness/value refers to how bright or dark the color is. These models are often used in graphics editing software for easier color selection and manipulation.

Other representations exist, such as YUV, used in video transmission, and CIE XYZ, a standardized color space that aims to encompass all colors visible to the human eye. The choice of color representation depends on the specific application and the device being used.
