Examensbetyg is a Swedish term for the formal record that confirms that a person has completed an educational program and documents the grades achieved in individual courses. The document is normally issued when a program is completed, such as upper secondary school or a university degree, and serves as official evidence of qualification for further studies, employment, or migration.

The content of an examensbetyg varies by level but typically includes identifying information about the student and issuing institution, the name of the program or degree, dates of study, total number of credits, and a course-by-course list of grades, sometimes supplemented by a final grade, GPA, or classification. It may also include a unique document reference or verification code and the language of the certificate.

Issuance and access are handled by the educational institution or the national authority responsible for the program. In higher education in Sweden, records and certificates are managed through the Ladok system and can be issued as official transcripts or degree certificates, in digital form or as certified paper copies. For upper secondary education, slutbetyg or examensbetyg are issued by the appropriate school or authority.

Use and recognition: Examensbetyg are commonly required for admission to further studies, for job applications, and for international credential evaluations. For international use, translations (often certified) and, in some cases, legalization or apostilles may be needed to verify authenticity across borders.

Variations: The terms are related but distinct. Betyg refers to individual course grades; slutbetyg or examensbetyg to the final diploma or transcript confirming program completion; examen bevis is the degree certificate for higher education.
