Etyylieesterit is an Estonian term for ethyl esters, a class of organic compounds formed by the esterification of carboxylic acids with ethanol. Chemically, an ethyl ester has the general structure RCOOCH2CH3, where R is an alkyl or aryl group derived from the parent acid. The defining feature is the presence of the ester functional group –COO– attached to an ethoxy substituent.
