Erosies is the plural form used in several languages for the process known in English as erosion. In Dutch and Afrikaans, for example, erosies refers to the same concept. In medical contexts, erosies can describe superficial tissue loss or lesions, and the plural form may be used to describe multiple such lesions.

Erosion is the removal of material from a surface due to physical or chemical action, with the detached matter often transported away by wind, water, ice, or gravity. It is distinct from weathering, which describes in-place breakdown without necessarily moving material. Erosion therefore combines both the wearing away and the disruption or transport of surface material.
