endraggedright

Endraggedright is not a formal LaTeX command by that exact name. In common usage, it refers to the end of a ragged-right block, which is created by the environment \begin{raggedright} ... \end{raggedright} or, equivalently, by the declaration \raggedright. The proper closing of the block is \end{raggedright}. The term “endraggedright” may appear in informal descriptions, but the official syntax uses the end{raggedright} macro.

Ragged-right in LaTeX produces text that is left-aligned with a ragged or uneven right edge, in contrast to fully justified text where both margins are aligned. This effect is achieved by altering the paragraph’s rightward stretch and line breaking so lines do not extend to fill the line width. The result is often used for quotations, captions, narrow columns, or stylistic blocks where full justification is undesirable.

Usage considerations include how it interacts with paragraph indentation and surrounding environments. The ragged-right block can be used as an entire paragraph or a sequence of paragraphs, and it can be nested within other environments. For better control over hyphenation and line breaks, the ragged2e package is commonly recommended. It provides a refined variant, including a \RaggedRight command, that improves the appearance of ragged-right text and its handling of hyphenation.

Common alternatives to ragged-right include the flushleft environment, which also produces left-aligned text with a ragged right edge, and various typography packages that offer more nuanced control over alignment. Endraggedright, when correctly interpreted as \end{raggedright}, thus marks the return from a ragged-right block to the document’s normal formatting.
