These areas are typically susceptible to attack by electrophiles, which are species that are electron-deficient and seek out electron-rich sites.

The concept of elektrontäta is crucial in understanding reaction mechanisms. When two molecules or species interact, the elektrontäta regions of one will often be attracted to the electron-deficient (elektronfattiga) regions of the other. This electrostatic attraction drives the formation of new chemical bonds.
