efterklang

Efterklang is a Danish word meaning reverberation, and it is also the name of a Danish experimental music group formed in Copenhagen in 2000. In acoustics, efterklang refers to the persistence of sound in a space after the original sound source has stopped. This reverberation is commonly described by a room’s reverberation time (RT60) and is influenced by factors such as room volume, surface absorption, diffusion, and layout. Reverberation colors how music and speech blend with their surroundings and can be manipulated in recording and performance to create sense of space.

The band Efterklang is known for blending elements of chamber pop, folk, and electronic textures with expansive
