edukim

Edukimi is the Albanian term for education. It refers to the process by which individuals acquire knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes through instruction, training, and experience. Education takes place in formal settings such as schools, colleges, and universities, as well as through non-formal programs, vocational training, and everyday life experiences.

It is commonly described as comprising formal education (classroom-based schooling and degrees), non-formal education (organized learning outside the formal system), and informal learning (unplanned learning in daily life). Education is a lifelong process that begins in early childhood and continues through adolescence and adulthood.

Goals of edukim include literacy and numeracy, critical thinking, problem solving, social and ethical development, and preparation for work and citizenship. Quality education supports personal development and social and economic progress, and is a key element of international development frameworks, including UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goal 4.

Challenges facing edukim include access and equity, disparities between urban and rural areas, funding, teacher shortages, and the digital divide. Policy responses focus on improving quality, relevance, infrastructure, teacher training, and inclusive access for all learners.
