They may adopt sustainable living practices such as reducing energy and water use, choosing low-impact transportation, minimizing waste, repairing and upcycling goods, and supporting renewable energy and climate-friendly policies.

Ecoenthusiasts participate in online communities, clubs, schools, and NGOs. They often advocate for science-based environmental policies, environmental education, and community resilience to climate change. The movement overlaps with, but is not limited to, environmentalists, conservationists, and sustainability advocates.

Impact can range from increased local awareness and volunteer labor to policy changes and shifts in consumer behavior. Critics note that the label can be broad and sometimes vague, and emphasize the need for informed action and coordination with scientists and policymakers to avoid performative or ineffective efforts.
