Electrocoating, often referred to as e-coating or electrophoretic coating, is a highly efficient and environmentally friendly finishing process used to apply a protective or decorative coating to metal parts. It utilizes an electric current to deposit a coating material onto a substrate immersed in a liquid bath. This method ensures a uniform and complete coverage of even complex shapes, including internal surfaces and sharp edges, which can be difficult to achieve with conventional spray or dip coating techniques.

The process involves immersing the parts to be coated into a water-based solution containing the coating material and a conductive electrolyte. When a direct current is applied between the parts (acting as an electrode) and an opposing electrode, an electrochemical reaction occurs. This reaction causes the coating particles to migrate from the solution and deposit evenly onto the surface of the parts. After deposition, the coated parts are typically rinsed and then baked to cure the coating, forming a durable and protective film.

Ecoatings are widely adopted across various industries, including automotive, appliance manufacturing, and general industrial applications, due to their superior corrosion resistance, adhesion, and excellent aesthetic qualities.
