A dobónyomóhenger is a type of press cylinder used in rotary printing machines. The name translates roughly as “throwing impression cylinder,” and it forms part of the impression system by helping to press the sheet against a printing surface to transfer ink or to create a defined impression. In many presses the dobónyomóhenger is positioned to engage with the sheet during feeding and start-up, and it can be engaged or disengaged through a cam, clutch, or pneumatic control to regulate when pressure is applied.

Construction commonly includes a steel core with an elastomer or rubber outer surface to provide grip and compliant contact. It is mounted on adjustable supports so that the contact pressure and location can be set precisely to achieve consistent print quality and to minimize smearing, wrinkling, or misfeeds. The timing, speed, and force of the cylinder are coordinated with other cylinders in the press.

Applications and usage vary by machine and process. The dobónyomóhenger can be found in older letterpress configurations, in certain embossing or hot-stamping lines, and in some specialty flexographic or rotogravure setups where controlled, deliberate contact pressure is required. In many modern workflows, presses employ integrated or alternative arrangements for impression and sheet transfer, reducing the need for a separate dobónyomóhenger.
