Dialysaattiin is a Finnish verb-form used to indicate that dialysis was performed on a patient. It is a passive past tense form derived from the verb dialysoida (to dialyze). In clinical notes or informal reporting, dialysaattiin can appear to describe a completed dialysis session or a treatment event. In more formal medical writing, similar statements are often expressed with dialysoitiin or with explicit action phrases such as potilaalle suoritettiin dialyysi.

Dialysis is a medical procedure that substitutes kidney function when the kidneys can no longer adequately filter waste products, maintain electrolyte balance, or regulate fluid status. The goal is to remove excess waste and fluid from the blood and to restore or maintain homeostasis in patients with kidney failure or acute kidney injury. Dialysis does not cure kidney disease but supports life and stability while other treatments, such as kidney transplantation, are considered.

There are two main dialysis modalities.
