Computermodeller is a term used to describe a person or software system that creates mathematical and computational representations of real-world systems. The goal is to simulate behavior, test hypotheses, and forecast outcomes under varying conditions. The term combines computer and modeller (or modeler in American spelling).

In practice, computermodellers develop, calibrate, and validate models; perform simulation experiments; and translate domain knowledge into computational workflows. Common tools range from Python, R, MATLAB, and Julia to specialized environments such as Simulink, Modelica, ANSYS, COMSOL, AnyLogic, and NetLogo.

Applications span engineering design, climate and environmental science, epidemiology, economics and finance, logistics, energy systems, and urban planning. In research and industry, computermodellers work with experimental data and theory to explore scenarios, optimize performance, and quantify uncertainty.

Education typically combines mathematics and computer science with domain expertise. Skills include data handling, software development, statistical reasoning, uncertainty quantification, and experimental design. Key challenges are model validity, data quality, computational cost, and ensuring reproducibility across platforms.
