Collagen provides bioactive cues that support cell attachment, proliferation, and differentiation, while alginate contributes ionic crosslinking capability through divalent cations such as calcium. The resulting hydrogels typically exhibit adjustable stiffness, porosity, and degradation profiles by varying collagen-to-alginate ratios, total polymer concentration, and crosslinking conditions.
