Origins and scope: The term is a portable coinage used in software engineering and data governance environments. There is no universal standard, and definitions vary by organization. In practice, changeslike is implemented as metadata attached to commits, merge requests, or change records.

Mechanism: A changeslike classifier analyzes diffs, commit messages, and related artifacts to map a change to one or more similarity categories. It may combine rule-based heuristics with lightweight machine learning to assign labels such as changeslike:bugfix, changeslike:performance, changeslike:UI-refactor, or changeslike:documentation.
