Certificrile is a digital credential format designed to package a certification claim into a compact, machine-verifiable token. A certificrile records the issuer, holder, credential type, level or scope, issue date, optional expiry date, and a cryptographic signature. It is intended to enable offline verification and cross-system interoperability while preserving privacy through selective disclosure.

The typical payload is a structured data object, often JSON or CBOR, containing fields for issuer identity, holder identity (or pseudonym), credential subject, issue date, expiry, and proof.

Issuance, storage, and verification: An accredited issuer signs the certificrile with a private key. Holders store it in digital wallets; verifiers obtain the issuer's public key or a DID-based resolver to confirm authenticity and, if present, check revocation status.

Standardization and interoperability: There is no single global standard for certificrile. In practice, adopters often align with established credential ecosystems such as W3C Verifiable Credentials or Open Badges, mapping certificrile fields to those schemas to improve cross-system verification.

Use and reception: Certificrile is proposed for education, professional licensing, and corporate compliance as a lightweight alternative to paper certificates or bulky PDFs. Critics point to potential revocation latency, privacy risks from issuer-trust reliance, and the need for broad standard adoption.
